I have been a light sleeper as long as I can remember. Maybe I owe it to a weak bladder or sharp ears, but waking up 3 to 4 times a night used to be my norm.

Bergamot (Citrus aurantium bergamia) essential oil has a calming effect that can help to reduce anxiety and stress. It’s great to diffuse at work or at home when stress levels are high. Or add to roller blend and apply it your wrists, abdomen, or bottoms of feet.
Vetiver Essential Oil –
Originating from a perennial grass native to the tropical regions in Asia, vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) essential oil is produced from the steam distillation of the plant’s root and the oil has a woodsy scent.
It’s one of the top essential oils for sleep as it provides a calming, grounding effect on emotions. A great way to use vetiver essential oil is in a soothing, aromatic massage after a long day.

Follow these tips to use essential oils for sleep aromatically and topically.
Aromatically:
- Pick a method to diffuse essential oils here.
- Start diffusing essential oils 30 minutes before bed to promote a relaxing bedtime routine. Or place a diffuser on your nightstand to diffuse while you sleep.
- Create a pillow mist to spritz on pillows and bed linens.
Topically:
- When using topically dilute using a carrier oil such as organic fractionated coconut oil.
- Apply diluted oils to your wrists, temples, spine, back of
