What Essential Oils Smell Like Flowers?

If you’re new to oil scents, look to these floral essential oils that come from petals, blossoms, and flowering plants. They’re known for their soft, romantic, and sometimes powdery scent profiles.

You’ll find some are light and airy, while others feel rich and perfumed. That’s what makes them so fun to use!

Here are a few favorites you’ll want to have on hand:

Blue Tansy Essential Oil – soft, sweet, and slightly fruity floral

Lavender Essential Oil – soft, herbal floral that works in almost anything

Geranium Essential Oil – fresh, rosy, and slightly green (swap it for rose)

Neroli Essential Oil – bright, citrusy floral oil from orange blossoms

Rose Essential Oil – classic, deep floral with a romantic feel

Chamomile Essential Oil – gentle, dewy, apple-like floral

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil – rich, sweet, tropical floral scent

Jasmine Essential Oil – warm, exotic, and slightly sweet

Each of these oils fall into the floral category on an essential oil blending wheel. They often act as the “heart” of a blend, giving it body and that signature bloom-like scent.

Ways You’ll Love Diffusing Floral Blends

Floral blends instantly make a space feel more softer and welcoming. I find that they’re perfect when you want your home to feel:

  • Uplifting and Inviting
  • Soft and Relaxing
  • Fresh but not Overpowering

Whether you’re setting the mood for a spring gathering or just freshening up your space, these floral diffuser blends bring that effortless, just-picked feel indoors. Test them in your diffuser or give one of these ways to diffuse essential oils outside of common diffusers a try!

#1 Terracotta Diffuser Stones

Craft your own diffuser stones using beautiful terracotta clay. These clay stones absorb essential oils and release their fragrance slowly over time. Check out my tutorial to make terracotta diffuser stones.

#2 Reed Diffuser

Create a reed diffuser at home by combining essential oils with a carrier oil, such as sweet almond, and placing reed sticks into the mixture. The reeds will absorb the oil and release the scent into the room gradually. Give it a try with this DIY reed diffuser tutorial!

#3 Soy Wax Melts

Create long-lasting floral scented essential oil wax melts that’ll make your spaces smell light and airy, all day long!

#4 Essential Oil Tea Light Diffuser

These diffusers come in a variety of designs and use a heat source, such as a tea light candle (I make my own), to gently warm the essential oils and disperse their aroma throughout a room.

Now matter how you diffuse these floral blend recipes, they are sure to uplift your day like a fresh flower bouquet!
