Starting with a soothing base of aloe vera wrapped in a combination of tangy essential oils with real lime slices – it’s basically summer in a soap bar.

The scent blend might surprise you, but it’s exactly what makes each bar feel like sunshine in your hands. (One whiff and you’ll swear a lime wedge and a paper umbrella are hiding somewhere.) I’ll share it with you and all the details you need to recreate these summer-fresh soap bars!

What’s the Secret To Soap That Smells Like A Summer Cocktail?

It all starts with using real scents derived directly from the source, instead of fake synthetic wannabes. Thanks to essential oils, we can easily recreate a cocktail-in-a-soap.

What essential oils go well together for soap?

A variety of essential oils make an ideal soap scent. Vanilla essential oil is one of my favorites to use! Widely recognized as a comforting scent, it often reminds us of freshly baked cookies from the oven.

So, it’s no surprise vanilla is known for promoting feelings of happiness and lifting our moods. This makes a great oil to include in soap scents. (Don’t miss my popular vanilla essential oil blends!)

Citrus essential oils are my next loved oils for use in soap. They pair well with sweet, fruity, spicy, and fresh oils. And lime happens to be one of the best for essential oil soap blends. Vibrant and zesty, the scent of lime essential oil blends is as invigorating as freshly sliced limes!

Does lime and vanilla go together? How could it not?

When vanilla and lime come together, the aroma is so refreshing that any thoughts of stress just melt away. This combo is a definite winner!

If you are looking for a scent you’ll love all year round, you’ll adore these essential oil blends for soap! I use them to make foaming hand soap, too. Print out these soap scent lists from the Oily Chic Library or pin them for later use as a quick reference.

How To Make Aloe Vera Essential Oil Soap With A Twist

This recipe makes three soap bars. You can double or triple the recipe to make more, filling each section of the soap mold.

Soap Recipe Instructions:

1. Prep Soap Mold – Prepare the rounded square silicone soap mold by cleaning, drying, and spritzing it with rubbing alcohol. (Each section of the mold I used holds 2.5 ounces of soap.)

2. Chop Soap Base – Slice and chop 7.5 ounces of the aloe vera soap melt and pour base into ½-inch to 1-inch cubes. Using a soap knife makes this step super quick!

3. Melt Soap Base – Scoop the chopped aloe soap base into a large glass measuring cup with a spout. Then, place it in the microwave and melt the soap base in three 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring intermittently.

4. Add Essential Oil – Next, add 5 ml of vanilla essential oil and 5 ml of lime essential oil to the soap mixture. Whisk the oils thoroughly into the soap.

5. Pour Soap and Add Limes – Next, carefully pour the mixture half full into three sections of the soap mold. Let cool for 60 seconds, then add one lime slice to each soap. Pour the remaining soap mixture, avoiding overflow, on top, before the soap hardens. And it will begin to harden quickly! (If you’re mixture hardens too fast, you can reheat it at 50% power for 10 to 15 seconds.)

6. Cure Soap – Watch the soap begin to harden around the limes. Then spritz the soap tops with rubbing alcohol to remove any bubbles that formed in the soap. Allow the soap to cool and cure in the mold for one to two hours or until solid before removing.
