Calming Lavender Essential Oil Diffuser Blends
Calming lavender essential oil diffuser blends with two free printable lavender diffuser blends charts for easy stress relief.
The buzz of the school year and quickly approaching holidays have me craving a break. And by a break, I don’t mean a 45-minute pedicure or a date night with my husband. While I certainly enjoy both of those, they don’t really allow me to relax and stop the constant reminder of everything I have on my plate right now.
I need a break from thinking about everyone and everything. And my guess is, I’m not alone; I think every mom out there can use a little rest and relaxation. But, as moms, we rarely spend enough time on ourselves.
Lavender has a long tradition of being a calming herb, and calmness is just what I need. It’s often called the swiss army knife of essential oils for its wealth of remedies. That’s why I never run out of lavender uses!
I’ve found just a few drops of lavender essential oil in my diffuser is just the calm I need to ease my way through the day.
If you, like me, find yourself in need of a little R&R, reach for these lavender essential oil diffuser blends. From Lavender Scones to Tranquil Tones and Deep Breath, each lavender diffuser blend recipe is dually calming and cleansing of stress.

What blends well with lavender essential oil?
Lavender has a distinctly unique floral aroma that is clean, soft, and herbal. Many find it the perfect aromatherapy for rest and relaxation. And lavender easily blends well with other essential oils, primarily because it falls into two aroma categories on an essential oil blending wheel.
What’s a blending wheel? Like a color wheel, an essential oil blending wheel helps us understand the relationships between different aromas and how our brain processes them. It answers the question of what essential oils smell good together.
You see, to create appealing essential oil blends, you want to choose oils that sit next to each on the blending wheel. Because lavender warrants its inclusion in the floral and herbal aroma categories, it can be blended among five categories. This is rare but an opportunity to make use of!
Bright citrus oils such as lemon and exotic oils such as vanilla are a given, but did you know lavender also pairs well with earthy cypress and palo santo? We can, in fact, blend lavender with floral, herbal, citrus, exotic, and woodland essential oils.
Read a complete list of essential oils in each aroma category and print a blending chart while you’re at it in the Oily Chic Library.

Where’s The Best Place To Put A Diffuser?
This is a really good question. From moving across the country, not one, not two, but seven times in my life, I can tell you it can be difficult finding a good space for a diffuser.
What I’ve learned is that it’s not really about decor. It’s about choosing the best place to reap the aromatherapy benefits of a diffuser. Yes, I am guilty of choosing an essential oil diffuser for its looks and choosing a spot to use it because it looked good there.
But, you’ll be less likely to use your diffuser if it’s not where you or your family are often. And the same can be said for your essential oils. If you keep them in a box in your closet – how often are you really going to use them?
So, take some time to think about where you and your family frequently spend time in your home and how you can creatively store your essential oils for ease of use. I share several storage tips for oils here and have a few ideas in the Oily Chic Lookbook.
Here is a list of some of the best places to put a diffuser:
- Bedroom Night Stand
- Office Credenza
- By The Kitchen Sink
- Portable Diffuser In The Car
- Living Room Sofa Table
- Bathroom Vanity
- Coffee Bar
Once you’ve found the perfect spot or spots in our family’s case for an essential oil diffuser, store essential oils you will use most often there. And why not tuck a few diffuser blends charts nearby?
