So if you’re looking for a remedy to chapped lips, there’s no sugar coating it; this all-natural vanilla honey and sugar lip scrub recipe is the best way to exfoliate lips. Made with an incredibly sweet blend of honey, coconut oil, natural sugar grains, and vanilla essential oil, it’s delectable.

Is there such a thing as vanilla essential oil? Not exactly, but yes, there is an essential oil made from vanilla. The vanilla plant (Vanilla planifolia) does not directly produce essential oil but rather pure vanilla oleoresin. The pure vanilla oleoresin is ingrained in a carrier oil, such as fractionated coconut oil, and becomes vanilla essential oil

And I have to tell you – it’s the real deal; vanilla essential oil smells like pure vanilla extract. It really shines through in my vanilla pumpkin bath bomb recipe too.

See for yourself by adding vanilla essential oil to a honey and sugar lip scrub. You’ll have kissably soft lips that feel as smooth as satin all year round!

What can I mix with honey for lips?

Honey is pretty darn incredible! Did you know antioxidants found in honey can decrease the appearance of wrinkles and scars by encouraging tissue regeneration? And that’s not all humectant properties of honey attract and bind moisture to the skin.

So, including honey, preferably raw and unfiltered, that maintains all the beneficial pollen and enzymes – or the honey in your pantry to a homemade lip scrub is supreme!

But what can I mix with honey for lips? Adding intensely moisturizing, organic coconut oil to a DIY lip scrub provides rapid results for dry, chapped lips.

And you can’t have a scrub without an exfoliant. Sugar grains can function as a gentle, natural exfoliant for lips. You can use basic granulated sugar, coconut sugar, brown sugar, or pure cane sugar in a lip scrub recipe.

Top it off with vanilla essential oil, and you have a clean beauty combination of natural ingredients to exfoliate gently.

How long will honey sugar lip scrub last?

It will last for a month when stored in a cool, dry place such as your vanity drawer. You can store it in the fridge for longer use, although the coldness will cause the coconut oil to harden. If that happens, simply rub your fingertip, or a spoon warmed with hot water over the top of the scrub to soften it. The scrub will work just the same.

A lip scrub takes your lips from flaky and chapped to smooth as cream in minutes! It begins with sugar to gently remove dead skin, then honey to draw in moisture, condition, and protect the skin. Followed by coconut oil containing saturated fats that melt fast, allowing our lips to absorb the superabundance of nutrients in this homemade lip scrub quickly. And the warm, rich, slightly sweet aroma of vanilla essential oil is truly the icing on the cake!

How Often Should You Use a Lip Scrub?

I have been asked, “Can I exfoliate my lips every day?” and “If not, how often should I use a lip scrub?” My best recommendation is to add a DIY lip scrub to your skin care regimen 1 to 3 times a week.

This helps keep your lips soft and chapped-free. ItIt’suite honestly not necessary and unhealthy to exfoliate lips daily.
