That’s right; it’s officially the summer season, and it’s time to enjoy all the best summer essential oil blends. Each season brings unique memories, feelings, or vibes, and summer is no exception. 

Feeling the warmth of the sun, making fresh lemonade, taking long morning walks, watching the fireflies dance at twilight, or reading a book under the shade of our locust tree – there’s so much to love about summer! 

We spend more time outdoors during the summer months than in any other season. Whether it’s feeling the sand or grass between your toes or going headfirst into the water as the temperatures warm, we are all drawn to being outside, soaking in everything summer has to offer. 

But what about those days when the humidity is too heavy to enjoy anything outside or when you’re having fun under the sun and a summer storm rolls in quickly? Does the fun have to end? 

Not in my book…

I developed several new summer essential oil blends with this list to bring on that sunny feeling. And I’ve put them all together for you in printable charts, too!

One of the best things about learning how to use essential oils is finding clever ways to put each to use in our daily routines. Rather, it’s a diffuser recipe to brighten a space or a blend for essential oil jewelry to lift your mood – essential oils are what multitasking dreams are made of!

So, don’t miss the clever ways I use summer blends because they’re not just for diffusing.

1. Boho DIY Reed Diffuser 

While diffusing recipes is one of the easiest ways to enjoy your blends, some spaces just don’t have room for a diffuser. (And plug-in air fresheners are not an option in our house.)

So when I want to create a subtle ambiance for those spaces in our home that aren’t ideal for diffusers, such as the laundry room, I turn to an essential oil reed diffuser. Want to make your own? Here’s how I make mine!

2. Take Summer With You Wherever You Go: Use Essential Oil Jewelry 

Essential oil diffuser jewelry is a must in my summer capsule wardrobe. They make it so easy to take oils with you – without carrying a thing.

No worries about anything leaking your beach bag or the temperature getting too hot for oils. Here are three ways to add a blend to essential oil jewelry.

• For diffuser bracelets, drop a single oil from the blend onto each bead, like these rosewood beads. This works incredibly for bracelet diffuser stacks. 
• If you’re wearing lava bead earrings or raw crystal rings, you add a single drop to each. They won’t hold more than that. 
• Your favorite summer essential oil blend can go with you when it comes to essential oil vial necklaces like this gorgeous quartz vial necklace. The top unscrews so you can add essential oils inside, and each necklace comes with a dropper. Use it to refresh your bracelets, earrings, or rings! 

There are three types of car diffusers – let’s cover them all!

1. Let’s start with the most simple essential oil diffusers for cars – keychains. These are typically made of leather, cotton, or wood. These feather macrame keychains are so cute, and you can add an entire blend to them. 
2. The second is a car diffuser like this, which can hang from your rearview mirror or be clipped to your car vent. Add your summer blend of essential oils to the glass vial. Simply flip it over, and the scent will softly circulate throughout your vehicle (more so if you turn on your fan). They only need to be refreshed every few days or so.
3. As for the third type, it’s more similar to a diffuser for the home. It’s designed to plug into your USB port or cigarette lighter. Most of these car diffusers have a rotating top, so you can position it to be uptight or sit in a cup holder like this. All you have to do is add a little water and your favorite summer essential oil blend to use. 

4. Enliven Your Space with Summer Vibes: Make an Essential Oil Room Spray 

When you’re not out and about this summer, make a simple essential oil room spray to enliven any space at home. I’ve been making room sprays for years, and all it takes is three simple ingredients. Here are my quick instructions on how to make a room spray with your favorite summer essential oil blends.

5. Want Kissable Summer Lips? Create a DIY Lip Scrub

If your lips are dry or chapped from all this summer heat, look no further than what nature has already provided us – essential oils! In fact, the best essential oils for the skin are incredible for soothing and nourishing dry lips. It’s as easy as adding a few drops of essential oil to a lip scrub recipe.  

6. Invoke Your Summer Glow: Create a DIY Shimmer Spray 

A body shimmer spray, sometimes called a bronzing spray, glow mist, or body glow spray, is a great way to add a gentle touch of color and shine to the skin. This body shimmer recipe will give your skin a hint of color, softness, and a natural glow. It’s easy and quick to apply with a fine mist spray bottle, and there’s no greasy mess! 

Summer Sunset

Invoke all the colors of a summer sunset in this magical summer essential oil blend of invigorating citrus, crisp cypress, and dewy, floral neroli.

3 drops Bergamot

3 drops Grapefruit 

2 drops Cypress

2 drops Neroli

Herb Garden

Summer is the best time for enjoying the fruits of our herb garden. I love adding fresh lemon balm or spearmint leaves to fresh-squeezed lemonade. And basil and oregano add all the summer flavors to our homemade pizza nights. This blend does it all, bringing the freshness of a summer herb garden indoors.

2 drops Basil

1 drop Thyme

2 drops Hyssop

2 drops Lavender

Mountain Climb

This is a great blend to reduce stress while traveling or packing, for that matter. Add it to an essential oil roller, car diffuser, or diffuser jewelry to carry with you during your travels. 

2 drops Idaho Blue Spruce

1 drop Peppermint

1 drop Cedarwood

2 drops Clove

Feel the Sun

When summer begins to fade into autumn, I miss the unique things like the sun’s warmth under my bare feet on our wood floors. And the gentle heat that rises in my cheeks while reading a good book outdoors. Keep the warmth of summer alive with this invigorating essential oil blend.  

2 drops Tangerine

2 drops Lavender

1 drop Lime

1 drop Spearmint

Lemonade Stand

No summer is complete without a batch of fresh-squeezed lemonade. Lemonade Stand is a bright, uplifting blend perfect for rainy days.

4 drops Lemon

1 drop Basil

2 drops Spearmint

Bonus – This blend makes for a yummy DIY lip scrub, too! 

Mermaid Lagoon

Want an essential oil blend that smells like the ocean? This summer blend will transform any space into the perfect oasis for relaxation, like a mermaid’s lagoon.

2 drops Idaho Blue Spruce

2 drops Blue Tansy

1 drop Ylang Ylang

1 drop Lime

Relish the feeling of walking through a patch of wildflowers gently brushing your skin with this summer essential oil blend.

Green House

Nothing marks the path to summer like a trip to the greenhouse. It’s the quintessence beginning of the summer season in our home. This essential oil diffuser recipe brings all the positive vibes found in the greenhouse.
