Because let’s admit it, as wonderful as the initial motivation is when we set a goal, it doesn’t last forever. You may have been driven to begin but face a loss of energy when the going gets tough.

What essential oils can I mix for focus?
Knowing which oils are good for increasing mental clarity and concentration is one thing, but knowing how to blend them is another key trick to using essential oils for focus anywhere, anytime. Whenever I’m starting to mix oils for a diffuser or roller blend, I love using a blending wheel.
What’s a blending wheel? Similar to a color wheel, an essential oil blending wheel helps us understand the relationships between different aromas and how our brain processes them.
It answers the question of what essential oils smell good together. To create appealing essential oil blends, choose oils that sit next to each on the blending wheel. Print a blending wheel chart from the Oily Chic Library.
Here’s a list of essential oils you could mix into blends to help you keep your eye on the ball.

What essential oil is best for focus?
While I’m not sure if one oil alone can take the cake for the best essential oil for focus, there are many that are great for enhancing clarity. The fantastic thing about this is that you have other options if you don’t have a particular oil or something is out of stock. You probably also have some of these on hand, which can be both a time and money saver.
To give you an example, peppermint is by far the most popular for improving focus, and for good reason. The invigorating aroma can refresh the mind and help us to get back on track mentally. However, if you can’t get your hands on peppermint essential oil, lemon, orange, and frankincense are all just as great!
4 Ways To Diffuse Essential Oils Blends for Focus
New to diffusing essential oils? Well, you’ll be happy to know it’s very simple. All you need is one of these diffuser methods to infuse your kitchen, laundry room, or entryway with sage essential oil blends!
Ultrasonic Diffuser
These popular devices use water and ultrasonic vibrations to disperse essential oils into the air as a fine mist. Add an ultrasonic diffuser to your next Target drive-up order (and don’t forget your Starbucks – yes, you can add it to drive-up orders!!) Shop some of my favorites here:
Reed Diffuser
Create a reed diffuser by combining essential oils with a carrier oil, such as sweet almond oil, and placing reed sticks into the mixture. The reeds absorb the oil and gradually release the scent into the room. Try this DIY reed diffuser tutorial to add a touch of elegance to your space.
Terracotta Diffuser Stones
Craft your diffuser stones using terracotta clay. These porous stones absorb essential oils and release their fragrance slowly over time. Check out this tutorial for handmade terracotta diffuser stones to infuse your environment with natural scents.
Essential Oil Tea Light Diffuser
These diffusers often come in decorative designs and use a heat source, such as a tea light candle (I make my own), to gently warm the essential oils and disperse their aroma throughout the room.
Whether it’s the elegance of reed diffusers, the ease and versatility of ultrasonic oil diffusers, the creativity of handmade terracotta stones, or another option – you’ll be able to soak up all the sage essential oil benefits!

Where’s The Best Place To Put A Diffuser?
This is a great question! From moving across the country, not once but seven times in my life, I can tell you it can be challenging to find a good space for a diffuser. You may even find yourself switching it up, and that’s ok!
I’ve learned that it’s not really about decor; it’s about choosing the best place to reap the aromatherapy benefits of a diffuser. And the same can be said for your essential oils. If you keep them in a box in your closet – how often are you really going to use them?
So, take some time to think about where you and your family frequently spend time in your home and how you can creatively store your essential oils for ease of use. I share several storage tips for oils here and have a few ideas in the Oily Chic Lookbook.
Here is a list of some of the best places to put a diffuser:
