Did you know science doesn’t know for certain where the lemon came from? The closest they have come to discover its origin is a cross between citron, thought to be the genetic ancestor of the citrus family, and a sour orange variety.

Can you imagine a world without lemons? I certainly can’t!

So many of us can’t get enough of them! It’s a good thing, that there are 47 varieties of lemons known today. Most of which grow wild across the Mediterranean from Spain to Portugal to Italy and beyond. And thankfully, lemon trees produce fruit year-round once they have matured.

History points to Christopher Columbus for bringing lemon seeds with him to the new world in the late 1400s. So, I guess, we can give him some grace for not getting some other things right.

Enjoy this beloved citrus fruit in sixteen refreshing essential oil diffuser blends! Each highlights the best smelling lemon essential oils from classic lemon to lemon myrtle, lemongrass, and jade lemon. If you find yourself asking, “What essential oils brighten moods?”, each of these essential oil blends charts are your answer. They highlight the uplighting aromas of lemon, lemon myrtle, jade lemon, and lemongrass in unique diffuser recipes.

What essential oils brighten the mood?

If you’re feeling low on energy, tired, or run-down, turn to essential oils to brighten your mood. Lemon essential oil happens to be one of the best at lifting moods. Its fresh, zesty aroma cannot only neutralize unwanted odors; it can also fill your space with its uplifting and refreshing aroma. This very fresh scent can make us feel more energetic, sharp, and confident.

When you add a few drops of lemon essential oil to the diffuser, you may likely experience:

  • A Boost of Energy
  • Elevated Mood
  • Clear Head
  • Sharp Focus

But it’s not just lemon essential oil that can have these effects. Others include:

Lemon Myrtle

Commonly known as the “queen of lemon herbs”, Lemon Myrtle essential oil is distilled from the leaves of the Australian Lemon Myrtle tree that grows in the lush Australian rainforests. Valued in aromatherapy for its fresh scent and uplifting benefits to calm anxiety and even improve self-confidence.

Its bright, invigorating, lemony aroma makes a great choice to diffuse or add to home cleaning recipes too.

Jade Lemon

Expressed from the rind of the fruit of the jade lemon tree, native to Taiwan and China, it is a subspecies of Citrus limon that produces fruit with a soft green color and distinct aroma profile.

Uniquely,  jade lemon fruit remains green even in maturity, allowing the concentration of oil to continue within the fruit, unlike other lemons, which begin to release some of their oils as they turn yellow. Because jade lemon oil is only released after the fruit is picked, it is richer and more fragrant.

What does Jade lemon smell like? Jade Lemon essential oil has a delightfully zesty fresh, uplifting aroma, sweeter than a typical Lemon’s tartness that can cleanse the air and eliminates odors, among other uses.

Steam distilled from Cymbopogon flexuosus, lemongrass is one of several aromatic flowering types of grass in the Poaceae family. Originally native to India and Guatemala, this botanical now thrives around the world in warm, tropical climates. In fact, I grow it here in my garden in Texas.

Like other lemon essential oils, it is a popular tool to cleanse the air and neutralize unwanted odors. And it’s also widely used in aromatherapy to help relieve stress, anxiety, and depression.

I promise you’ll be hooked on lemon essential oil diffuser blends, not just because they smell good, but because they are happily energetic and can brighten anyone’s mood!
